Earlier versions of Skype could hang a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls over Wi-Fi when a received SMS (Short Message Service) or the notification of the battery.
A new feature in version 1.3 allows the iPhone, which will be held in landscape mode and will be used for instant messaging.
Skype also has a call-quality indicator. The controls feature available bandwidth during a call. When a user presses a green button, a pop-up window displays a message such as "No problem of bandwidth. Skype call quality must be good." The functionality is already in version 4.2 of the desktop application for the Windows operating system.
In other Skype news says, the company has a 3G version of its VoIP application for the iPhone ready to go, if Apple can go to their App Store.
Since its iPhone application Skype has published in March 2009, calls can be made-Fi, but 3G data - to be conducted over the air - enough for VoIP calls only to a Wi.
The carriers were concerned that Skype on the iPhone revenue away from the calls and would adversely affect the integrity of their networks, but it seems to change their minds. "Apple has no guarantee about when Apps are available for download, but it is a 3G-enabled version of the App Store as soon as you hear all the changes," said Parkes.
